Stuck trying to figure out where to find teaching jobs abroad? Well look no further!

Hey there! If you are new here my name is Shanice! International teacher, expresso martini connoisseur and most importantly your teach abroad guide. As someone who has been in these international streets for five years and in two different countries, let me tell you it's easier than you think to find a teaching job abroad. In this blog post, I have rounded up some resources and tips to help you on your job search. This post focuses on opportunities in the Middle East/GCC region but also includes options for other popular destinations.

Best Time to Apply for International Teaching Jobs:

The ideal time to start applying for international teaching jobs is generally 6-12 months before the intended start date. This not only ensures that you are ready for the transition but gives you time to gather documents, save money, and get all of your ducks in a row before leaving. Here are some important timelines:

-Middle East/GCC: Recruitment often begins in September for positions starting the following academic year (August/September). Peak hiring season is from January to April. Now I will say schools are honestly hiring year- round but focusing on these periods will most likely land you the job that you want.

-Other Regions: In Europe and Asia, recruitment also starts about a year in advance, with peak seasons varying slightly by country. For example, Japan and South Korea often hire teachers in the fall for the next school year.

Basic rule of thumb is to start looking for your dream job abroad about a year before you intend to go.

4. Essential Qualifications and Certifications:

- TEFL/TESOL Certification: Often required for ESL positions.

- Teaching License: Schools prefer or require a valid teaching license from your home country. ( if they don't IMMEDIATE RED FLAG!)

- Bachelor’s Degree: This is a minimum requirement, some schools/ positions require a degree in education or a specific subject area.

5. Navigating the Interview Process:

-Research the School/Country: Be well-informed about the school’s philosophy, curriculum, and the country’s culture and education system.

-Practice Interview Questions: Prepare for common interview questions and be ready to discuss your teaching philosophy, classroom management strategies, and experience with diverse student populations. If you want more help with the interview process, check out these posts:
