HEY, I’M SHANICE...
...a teacher, traveler, and espresso martini connoisseur. After college, I taught abroad for four years in Kuwait. I loved my experience but something pulled me to come home. I am glad I did because there were definitely some personal things that needed my direct attention. After five years of being home and rebuilding relationships, I decided it was time to go back abroad. So here I am again- this time in Doha, Qatar.
Teaching abroad gives me the freedom to live the life I have always dreamed of on my terms. I am able to do things I could not on a teacher’s salary and schedule in America. The safety is unmatched and I have the time and space to pursue all of my passions while not having the pressure of working extra jobs to survive.
Teach Travel Thrive was born out of my many passions and my desire to help women-especially black women- live their healthiest, freest, most fulfilled lives. If you’re a burned-out teacher who is constantly questioning their career choice, I am here to offer you guides, advice, and resources on how to move your teaching experience abroad. If you’re someone who loves to travel, I have the perfect guides for you to make your trips the most memorable. If you’re not sure where to start on either of those topics: I am here to help.
After five years, two countries, and three schools abroad, I’ve learned a thing a two about how to find the right school, avoid the nonsense, and make your teaching abroad experience right for you. Through teaching abroad I have been blessed to have experienced 30+ countries and believe travel should be accessible to everyone so sharing my knowledge is just one way I can contribute to that idea.
